About ASCII art generator

Turn a short message into a large character banner for a README, terminal screen, source-code header or text post. Six rendering styles share a compact Latin letter set; preview changes as you type and continue editing the result on the drawing canvas.

Steps, and limitations

How to use it

  1. Enter one or more lines of text. Latin letters, digits and punctuation are supported; lowercase is converted to uppercase.
  2. Choose solid, outline, shadow, slanted, compact or Braille-dot lettering. Adjust fill characters, spacing, alignment and a border.
  3. Copy plain text or a fenced Markdown block, export the result, or send it to the drawing canvas.

Things to know

  • Solid, outline, shadow and slanted lettering can use plain ASCII. Compact lettering, Braille and decorative borders use Unicode; the output footer identifies the character set.
  • Accented Latin characters are normalized. Unsupported glyphs are listed and replaced with a question-mark glyph, not silently dropped.
  • Use a monospaced font and preserve spaces. Large outputs may need a smaller preview size or a text download instead of an image.
