Encrypt and decrypt text with a passphrase.

New encryption uses AES-256-GCM with a random salt and nonce, plus PBKDF2-SHA-256 (600,000 iterations). New ciphertext starts with aptk2. and is not accepted by the original AnonPaste encryption implementation.

Protect a piece of text with password-based encryption. New messages use the versioned authenticated format; decryption also recognizes the supported legacy format.

How to use it

  1. Choose encrypt or decrypt and enter the text.
  2. Enter the passphrase and run the operation.
  3. Save the result and test a decryption before discarding any original.

Things to know

  • A lost passphrase cannot be reset. A weak passphrase can undermine otherwise strong encryption.
  • Legacy messages are unauthenticated; decrypt and re-encrypt important material in the current format.
